Greetings From the President
Happy New Year! I am Kristy Brugar, the OKCHE's President for 2019-2020. I am an Associate Professor of Social Studies Education in the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education at the University of Oklahoma. Previously, I was an assistant professor at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and a middle school social studies teacher in Maryland and Michigan. My research interests include social studies and history education, interdisciplinary instruction involving social studies, literacy, and visual arts, and teacher development. In addition, I serve as the Vice Chair on the Board of Directors for the National Council for History Education. I can be reached atkristy.a.brugar@ou.edu or okchepresident@gmail.com.
The Board of Directors and I are working to make OKCHE a part of your professional learning. With that in mind, please look for frequent posts about history resources and opportunities on our Facebook page, Twitter feed, and on our website.
As a member of OKCHE, your voice is an important part of the organization. At our last board meeting, we amended our constitution. In order to ratify those amendments, we need approval for these changes. Please go to the following link and vote accept or reject the changes. We appreciate your participation in this process and it should take less than 10 minutes of your time.
